Community College Options
High school students at Visions In Education have a variety of community college options. Earn high school and college credit at the same time and get a head start on a college degree or career. Many California community colleges offer FREE classes to high school students and Visions helps cover costs for materials and textbooks. Choose from Dual Enrollment, Dual Enrollment Special Admit, Career Technical Education pathways and/or take a 21st Century Skills class.
Take virtual college classes at American River or Folsom Lake College. These free classes are reserved for Visions students only and you receive support from a college professor as well as a Visions counselor and teacher. Learn more about the available classes and support here.
Dual Enrollment Special Admit allows students to take classes of their choosing at any community college in our service area. The student will need to apply to the college. Visions students will take the course with college-age students and receive support from the professor. Visions will help cover costs of books and materials.
Healthcare is currently one of the fastest growing career sectors in California and the nation. Medical Careers is a CTE pathway offered by Visions for students who intend to enter the healthcare career field. The pathway curriculum focuses on foundational knowledge and skills needed to be successful in any career involving healthcare and is taught by a Visions teacher. Learn more here.
Game and Simulation is a CTE pathway offered by Visions that teaches students the fundamentals of game design including JavaScript, game mechanics, audio editing, storytelling and game world development. The Cybersecurity pathway is designed to expose high school students to the ever-growing field of cybersecurity. This pathway provides the technical understanding of networking and security, as well as the communication skills and professionalism required of all entry-level IT positions. Students will have an understanding of academic and career paths they can take to achieve their future goals. Learn more here.
According to CareerBuilder, 92% of employers rated soft skills as equally or more important than technical skills. In this course students develop employability skills and define their career goals. This class is taught by a Visions teacher and students are eligible to receive high school and college credit upon completion.
