Start the journey towards higher education with our University Prep Early College Academy. Designed for students in 9th through 12th grade who want to seamlessly apply to a four-year university, state college, or community college after high school. This unique program allows students to work independently from the comfort of home with the guidance of a dedicated team of educators. This innovative approach ensures that students not only meet the requirements for higher education but also learn essential skills for success beyond the classroom.
In our Early College program, students have the unique opportunity to participate in college-level courses, earning both high school and college credits at the same time. Students are exposed to a college environment through dual enrollment but also have the opportunity to earn an Associates of Arts degree* by the time they graduate high school thanks to a partnership with Los Rios Community College District.
*Students who enroll in the program in 10th, 11th or 12th grade may not have enough time to earn all the college credits required for an AA degree, but they are still able to earn transferable college credits to get a headstart on their post high school plans.
We also offer a high school program for students planning to attend community college or join the workforce after graduation. Click here to learn about our Independent Study program.
Academic success at the college level requires students to have a high level of technology skills. Since students complete their coursework online at home, they are provided with a free Chromebook while enrolled. Projects are completed with the help of a variety of online tools such as Google Apps, an online learning management system, virtual math labs and more. In addition, teachers and students stay connected by way of live virtual meetings, phone, text, and email.
In the collaborative learning environment of the University Prep Early College Academy, students actively engage in group projects tailored to their individual interests, fostering a dynamic “learn by doing” approach. Working together, each student receives support from their peers and a dedicated team of teachers online and in-person. Students develop strong communication, time management, self-awareness and reflection skills preparing them for success in both higher education and future careers.
Visions uses Learning Assessments to build students an individualized learning plan. Assessments are administered using the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) MAP for grades 9-11. Visit our FAQs for more info.
