Visions Home School student Osamirho S.M. recently shared her musical abilities, her future gymnastics journey, and how she keeps her family at the center of it all with Telemundo.

Visions has given her the flexibility and opportunities to be involved in multiple activities and her parents helped her find her love for music during family jam sessions where they sing and play instruments together including the guitar, piano, and percussion. Learning multiple subjects became a normal part of Osamirho’s life early on as she watched her older brother Malcolm, also a Visions student, take part in gymnastics.

“My parents were both athletes and my brother started before me because he’s older and he inspired me to do gymnastics,” says Osamirho. “I would hear his stories of learning to do crazy things and I thought, ‘I want to do that too!’”

Osamirho credits her parents for providing her with the opportunity to practice her passions in both music and gymnastics. For many Visions’ students, flexible schedules make it easy for them to take time to learn more about their passions and interests. Students can thrive in an environment that best suits their educational and personal goals.

For 10-year-old Osamirho, she is excited to explore and grow more in her passions, “I would like to go to college for gymnastics and the Olympics. But I also love cooking! I would love to be a chef like my mom.”

Osamirhos’ Perseverance

“When I see my parents, I see myself, because it’s [also] like when I’m in gymnastics, there are times where you are tired and don’t want to keep going,” says Osamirho. “But, sometimes you wouldn’t know how far you could go if you didn’t try.” 

Osamirho’s story of perseverance, shows that this practice reveals unexpected potential. Without pushing beyond one’s comfort zone, one may never discover the true extent of their capabilities.
